Today's StarHeart Tuesday is a specially hard one for me. This weekend a dear friend lost her battle to cancer. Jaison was a young woman in the prime of her life. I mean, talk about perfect. She was gorgeous, kind, more fun than a tree full of monkeys, and smart as a whip. She was the whole package, and we were friends for over twenty years. She was there for me when I went through my own battle with cancer four years ago. And it was comforting to have a friend like her by my side, who understood what I was going through at the time.
Jaison was a great supporter of the Starcrossed series. She was one of the original StarHearts. She was always passing my books on to friends, family, people in the grocery store...you name it. She even came close to getting it set up as a movie once at Sony, where she worked as an attorney. She believed in me so much, and I was never really sure what I did to deserve her.
I already miss her terribly. Rest in peace, sweet girl.
Another Tuesday, and another batch of pictures to share!
The one up above is from Kristina Ebert, who's been a fan since day one. She even had her hubby wear a toga for a giveaway I did for the release of Starcrossed. This photo is part of a set I posted on my Facebook page last week, but I think this one in particular deserves another mention.
The next one is from Louisa Kleinmann, holding her dedicated copy of Göttlich verdammt, the German edition of Starcrossed.
Danke Louissa, dass du ein treuer Fan bist. <3
This one is from Mina Divinagracia, whom I met at a book signing at the Once Upon a Time bookstore in Montrose California, pre-pandemic of course.
Thank you, Mina!
This next one is from MariBoo, from le creazioni di Mari, all the way in Italy, who made these exquisite key chains out of my books. So gorgeous.
And this is me goofing off with Debra Driza at a book signing in Mission Viejo. A skill honed in during my bartending days.
And that's all for today. I will post more goodies next week. :)
Thank you all!
Welcome back for another installment!
This week I have some pretty darn amazing photos from Emma Falconer. A few years ago she did a pilgrimage to Delos island, the mythological birthplace of Apollo, and as you know, the island I named Lucas and his family after. She just resent the photos and I thought I would share them with you.
The first one is the island itself and the graveyard of ancient Greek columns as you make your approach.
This next one is the House of Neptune with its gorgeous mosaic floor and Greek columns still standing thousands of years later. You can't really see it, but the columns have inscriptions engraved all around them. Greek graffiti. I'd like to imagine that somewhere in there there's an ode to love.
And this last one is the amphitheater. Isn't it amazing?
This next photo was sent by Jessica Brauns, holding a recently dedicated copy of Annie's Welt, the German edition of Snow Lane. Peek-a-boo!
And this next one is from Janine Bucsek. A dedicated copy of Starcrossed with her beautiful library in the background. You can so tell she's a book lover. Danke Janine! <3
And this last one is an oldie sent by Jacque Smith, sporting a Team Fate shirt. Thanks Jacque!
Thank you all, and please keep sending me your lovely photos and videos!
As I mentioned last week in one of my posts, over the years some of you have been sending me photos and videos of all kinds of different things related to my books, or posting them on social media. Some of you have have put so much effort into these, like the one below by Instagram user @lovemybookworld, that they deserve a little extra attention, and some safe-keeping.
If the music cuts out it's because I shared it from Facebook and they apparently had an issue with the music being used, claiming it violated copyright law. Seriously.
Anyway, I feel like if I were to opt out of using Facebook or leave Instagram at some point in the future, which I very well may, these photos and videos will be lost and forgotten. So, I've decided to have a special day up on my blog, every Tuesday, where I can feature your photos and videos so they can live in my domain for me to cherish forever and ever.
With the book giveaway currently underway taking so much of my spare time, it's just too much for me to go back and find ones that have been sent to me over the years, so please feel free to email them to me if you want to be featured at firstname.lastname@example.org, so that I can repost them here.
This one is from the current giveaway, Kay La Heath holding a dedicated copy of Goddess. Gorgeous!
This next one was shared by Kristina Hickman, whom I met 8 years ago at a book signing in Kansas City Missouri. Thanks Kristina!
This other one is from Chloe Allouche, whom I met at a book signing in Paris. Bonjour, Chloe!
And this one is an oldie that has a lot of sentimental value to me because it was during my very first tour for the Dark Days of Supernatural, which I did with Veronica Roth, Ellen Schreiber, Aprilynne Pike, Tara Hudson and my dear friend Amy Plum.
Thanks Erika Stroup for this one!
Thank you all for these. It means the world to me that you've all gone out of your way to share your joy with me! <3
